ChronoScan, a complete suite for document scanning and data entry, is ideally suited for you if you fall in one of the following categories: a regular user who has to work with scanned documents on a regular basis; a company that works with scanning and managing scanned documents; a company that provides data scanning services to others. If you fall into one of these categories and you want a powerful tool that can help you efficiently scan and organize documents, you’re very well advised to go get ChronoScan.

The system requirements for running ChronoScan are as follows: Windows operating system (XP SP2 or SP3, Vista, or 7), .NET Framework 2.0 or higher, 250MB of free disk space.
The setup wizard that helps you install ChronoScan on your Windows-powered machine will ask you to choose between a full or a custom installation. The full installation includes the following: core program files, ChronoScan OCR, Tesseract OCR, Cuneiform OCR, and GhostScript.

ChronoScan features a ribbon interface, meaning that there’s a ribbon at the top that displays buttons for all the features and functions the application has to offer. If you think the ribbon gets in the way, you can hide it out of sight by clicking the button from the upper right hand side, the one next to Estilo (that’s Spanish for Style). From this Estyle button you can choose a theme for the interface: Office 20007 Black Theme, Office 2010 Silver Theme, or Windows 7 Theme for example.

Before you can get to the ribbon interface, you must get past a “Welcome to ChronoScan Network” prompt. Take the time to create a ChronoScan account and you will be able to quickly get past this prompt by logging in. Don’t create an account, hit the “Continue without registration button” and you will have to wait for 90 seconds. It pays then to register, to create an account. It’s simple, free, and won’t take much of your time.

With the aim of helping you get things done faster, ChronoScan puts a very nice list of features at your disposal: a wizard for creating new job configurations; search job types shared by other users via the web; import images, scanned images, or PDFs; barcode recognition; several OCR engines to choose from; multiple operations to choose from; OCR and assisted auto fields; upload documents to the cloud; and more.

With ChronoScan you have a powerful tool at your side that will help you more efficiently work with scanned documents.

Pros

The system requirements for running ChronoScan are very low; a setup wizard will allow you to choose between a custom and a full installation. The ribbon interface can be hidden out of sight; there are several themes you can choose from for the interface. ChronoScan comes with a nice list of features, features that will help you more efficiently work with scanned documents.

Cons

Unless you create an account, you have to wait 90 seconds before you can start using ChronoScan.
